Fasteners are the unsung heroes of upholstery. Every layer of fabric, webbing, and hessian is held in place by tacks, staples, or nails, and choosing the correct type and size for each stage is essential. Improved tacks with their larger heads grip fabric securely during initial positioning, while fine tacks are used for finishing and delicate work where a smaller head is needed.
For modern pneumatic work, we stock a full range of staple sizes suited to different compressor guns. Heavier gauges anchor webbing and hessian to hardwood frames, while finer staples are used for top fabric and calico where minimal marking is important. We also carry gimp pins for attaching braid and gimp without visible fixings.
Decorative nails add a traditional finishing touch to chairs, sofas, and headboards. Available in brass, antique bronze, nickel, and black finishes, they can be spaced individually or applied in a close-nail pattern for a continuous studded line. We supply both individual nails and strip-nailing for faster application on larger projects.
